Rising Stars Accelerated Program

“Unlocking Potential, Inspiring Excellence”

The Rising Stars Accelerated Program at I.S.59Q Middle School is designed for high-achieving, motivated students who are ready to challenge themselves academically, rake the regents, and prepare for the rigors of high school and beyond. This program provides students with the opportunity to engage in coursework on an accelerated rate, helping them develop the critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic skills necessary for success in high school, college, and their future careers.

Admissions Requirements:

To be considered for the Rising Stars AP Program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Application: Click Here. Please submit to the main office of the school.
  • Academic Performance: A minimum of 85% average in core subjects (Math, English, Science, Social Studies).
  • Standardized Test Scores: Proficiency in key areas (Math and ELA) as demonstrated through state assessments or other academic evaluations.
  • Motivation and Commitment: Demonstrated willingness to engage in rigorous coursework and maintain consistent academic effort throughout the year.
  • Interview Process: Students will participate in a brief interview with the school administration to assess their readiness for the program and their enthusiasm for learning.

Expectations:

As part of the Rising Stars AP Program, students are expected to:

  • Maintain Academic Excellence: Students must uphold a minimum grade of 80% in all AP courses to remain in the program.
  • Demonstrate Leadership and Responsibility: Students are expected to show leadership both in and out of the classroom, fostering a positive, collaborative learning environment.
  • Engage in Independent Learning: Students will be expected to work independently and demonstrate initiative, completing assignments, projects, and assessments on time.
  • Commit to Participation: Active participation in all program-related activities, including class discussions, group projects, and extracurricular opportunities.

  • Exclusive Enrichment Opportunities: Students in the Rising Stars Program will have access to enrichment opportunities such as field trips, guest speakers, specialized workshops, and summer learning programs.
